About San Diego Community Health Center

San Diego Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and Indian Health Service (IHS) funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, providing comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, and wellness services for all people since 1979.

San Diego Community Health Center is a medical clinic in San Diego, California. It is listed at 2630 First Ave., San Diego, CA 92103, which places it among the local businesses of San Diego that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Google also lists it under dental clinic, internist, mental health service, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

In San Diego, urgent care centers are busiest on weekends and evenings when doctors' offices are closed, and most post their wait times online. Across California, primary care practices often have a waitlist for new patients, so establishing care before you need it saves time. For a dental emergency outside office hours, an urgent care center can prescribe antibiotics and pain relief but cannot fix the tooth; a hospital emergency room can treat swelling that affects breathing or swallowing. Check the listing for insurance, hours and whether telehealth visits are offered.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach San Diego Community Health Center at (619) 234-2158; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is sdaihc.org, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 3.6 out of 5 from 110 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Dr. Erica Apenzeller was my acupuncturist for more than 12 months. I loved going for acupuncture treatments, acupuncture used to be the highlight of my day. Until, I had a horrible experience with Dr. Apenzeller 3 months ago. That day, she mentioned not getting along with her boyfriend. I could see how upset she was but I NEVER expected this. I was on the table face up, there were needles all over my arms and legs, no way I could leave. I was going through a rough patch and hoping acupuncture would help with my stress. Since I couldn’t see what she was doing, all I can say is it felt like she tried to pierce through the cartilage in my left ear. I honestly don’t think she was using an acupuncture needle come to think of it. She was well aware I had surgery on my ear 3 months before because I always mentioned it but that didn’t mean a thing. It was so painful, my arms and legs lifted off the table. I said OUCH. She said β€œoops, let me try again.” I REALLY trusted her. I was really doing my best to relax and breathe it through. She did it again, my arms and legs lifted off the table from the pain, I said OUUUCH. I couldn’t get off the table. I gave in. I was extremely confused when

Here's a more customer service-oriented and sincere version of your feedback: I appreciate the convenience that telehealth is intended to provide; however, my overall experience has been disappointing. The telehealth platform frequently crashes during appointments, and I have been unable to reliably communicate with my provider through the Healow app. Additionally, the equipment and technology appear outdated, resulting in very poor video quality. Another challenge is the lengthy check-in process, which often consumes 10 to 15 minutes of my scheduled appointment time and reduces the amount of time available to discuss my healthcare needs. I've also experienced inconsistencies with appointment start times. While some providers are punctual, others have been significantly delayed, sometimes by as much as 20 minutes. As a patient, I value efficient, reliable, and accessible care. Unfortunately, these ongoing issues have led me to consider seeking medical services elsewhere. I hope this feedback is helpful in identifying opportunities to improve the overall telehealth experience for patients.

Dr Erica Appenzeller Acupuncture Dr. Erica has hands and precision like no other. It amazes me how she can gently assess my body and pinpoint exactly where my pain is. Her ability to identify problem areas and place her treatment with such accuracy is truly remarkable. The heat therapy is incredibly soothing and comforting, helping my body relax and prepare for treatment. Then comes my favorite part. As a massage therapist, I know the difference between good hands and exceptional hands, and Dr. Erica’s touch is exceptional. Her pressure is perfect, her technique is outstanding, and the positive energy she brings to every session makes the experience even more effective. Every appointment leaves me feeling renewed, restored, and transformed. I walk away with less pain, more mobility, and a greater sense of well-being. I genuinely look forward to seeing her each week and highly recommend her to anyone seeking skilled, compassionate, and effective care.

I was highly referred to go to DDS Christopher DeMeyer. I am very happy. I was so scared at 1st because I had deep/cleaning/scaling in the past at different dentist a few times and I went through the roof with pain as soon as they started. When I found out that the 1st procedure was a deep scaling I cancelled 3 times. They were so understanding at the front desk. I had my bottom deep scaling done today by DDS Christopher DeMeyer, I didn't feel anything. This was fun also because his 1980s music and funny talks were awesome. THIS DENTIST IS BY FAR the BEST EVER!! I'm not stressed anymore. Thank you very much 😊

I’ve been coming to this dental office for quite some time, and while I generally appreciate the care provided, I’ve consistently experienced an issue with one staff member’s attitude that I feel compelled to address. During my most recent visit, I was informed there is a new QR code check-in process. As I was attempting to pull up my camera to scan the code, my phone was loading slowly due to overheating. Before I had the opportunity to complete the process, I was abruptly told to move to the tablet and sign in there because appointments were being made. The tone felt unnecessarily impatient and dismissive. I understand that front desk staff often manage multiple responsibilities at once, and I respect that. However, professionalism and courtesy should remain consistent, regardless of how long someone has worked at the office or how busy the moment may be. Patients should not feel rushed or spoken to in a way that feels condescending. I value this practice and the dental care I receive here, which is why I believe it’s important to share this feedback. A calm, respectful interaction goes a long way in maintaining a welcoming and positive environment for patients.
